History and Heritage
|
|
NUFE, which was operated under the name of Nanjing Institute of Economics between 1981-1993, merged two higher learning institutions in 1985 and 1999, respectively, the Jiangsu Economic Management Cadres College and the Nanjing Materials College. The university has had its current name since 2003.
The university currently has three campuses, the Fujian Road Campus, the Xianlin Campus and the Qiaotou Campus. Three campuses cover a total area of 200 hectares in the town of Nanjing.
The university is comprised of 17 schools and departments and provides educations to undergraduates, graduates and trainees of diverse programs. The present enrollment is around 20,000 of full-time students plus part-time students in its continuing education and self-taught or examined gratuates. NUFE has undertaken more than 300 of the national and provincial research projects and has received more than 100 national or provincial awards.
The university has established an international exchange network and cooperates with more than 60 international higher learning institutions from the United States, France, Canada, Australia, UK, Japan, Russia, etc.
The current university president is Prof. Congcai Xu, who has his doctorate degree from Fudan University and is an outstanding economist. |
