Nanjing Normal University (NNU, 南京师范大学) is a notable university and functions directly under Jiangsu Province. NNU was formed by a merger of two early higher learning institutions in Chinese education history. One was founded in 1902 in the name of “Sanjiang Normal Institute” and the other was a joint institution of Jingling University and Jingling Women’s College founded in 1888. In 1952, two parts of the university came together to establish Nanjing Normal University. It celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2002.
With well-established programs in arts, sciences, economics, business administration, law and humanities, the university has twenty four schools and departments as well as more than fifty research institutes, and offers both students and professors exciting and unique opportunities in research, education, and international collaboration. In the published Chinese University Ranking 2003-5, compiled by netbig.com, this university was ranked 56th among 686 selected Chinese universities.
Nanjing Normal University has established academic ties with 44 international universities and educational institutions. Nearly seven thousands international students have studied in or received training from this higher learning institution. |
